The Executive Director of the National Institute for Nigerian Languages (NINLAN), Prof. Ogbonna Onuoha, announced that the Institute’s staff schools would be officially renamed “NINLAN International Schools” effective from the 2025/2026 academic session. This strategic rebranding, which affects both the NINLAN Demonstration Secondary School and the NINLAN Nursery and Primary School, was unveiled during a consultative meeting with key stakeholders, including the PTA Chairmen, Dr. Emenike and Mr. Dan-Stan Nwigwe, as well as the school heads, Mrs. Ugochi Mwaokorie and Mrs. Doris Emedolibe. Prof. Onuoha explained that this name change is part of a broader vision to repackage and provide a comprehensive facelift to the institutions to ensure they remain competitive and modern.

Central to this administrative upgrade is a plan to renovate classrooms and enhance the schools’ Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure, with the ultimate goal of establishing a JAMB ICT Centre on the premises. To support these improvements and navigate the current economic climate, the Executive Director proposed a rational adjustment of school fees, emphasizing that sustainable operations require a balance between income and expenditure. Prof. Onuoha expressed great pride in the caliber of the teaching staff, asserting that the schools possess a level of professional qualification that surpasses other private institutions in the region.

The collaborative nature of the meeting was underscored by the Executive Director’s praise for the Parent-Teacher Associations, acknowledging their vital contributions such as providing furniture and funding specialized teaching positions. In response, the PTA Chairmen commended Prof. Onuoha for his inclusive leadership in seeking their input on fee adjustments. While the associations generally accepted the proposed increases to facilitate the schools’ growth, they also suggested certain downward modifications, which the Executive Director committed to presenting for Management’s consideration. The session, which marked a significant step in the schools’ evolution, was witnessed by the Institute Librarian, Prof. Cyprian Ugwu, and the Head of Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Chris Nwankwor.
