An Abuja-based charity organisation has honoured the Executive Director of the National Institute for Nigerian Languages, Aba, Professor Ogbonna Onuoha, with an Award for Excellence in Educational Leadership.

The award was presented in recognition of the Executive Director’s achievements within the relatively short period of his administration as the head of the Institute.

Presenting the award at the Executive Director’s office, the Project Coordinator of the Foundation, Ms. Chihindu Ukatu, praised Professor Onuoha for the visible progress recorded by the Institute within a short period under his leadership. She noted that the Foundation found him worthy of recognition because of his commitment to educational advancement, institutional development, and purposeful leadership.

Ms. Ukatu encouraged the Executive Director to remain steadfast in his efforts to reposition the Institute and contribute meaningfully to the development of education in Nigeria. She added that impactful leadership deserves encouragement and public recognition, especially at a time when visionary leadership is greatly needed in the education sector.

Responding to the honour, Professor Onuoha expressed deep appreciation to the Foundation for finding him worthy of the award. He stated that the recognition would further motivate the Management of the Institute to continue working diligently in pursuit of excellence and national development. According to him, the focus of his administration is not the pursuit of awards, but the determination to do what is right, strengthen the Institute, and create lasting value for society.

The event attracted members of the Institute’s Management and staff, including the Bursar, Mr. Kolawole Aliu; the Institute Librarian, Professor Cyprian Ugwu; the Director of Works, Architect Emeka Izuwah; and the Head of Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Chris Nwankwor.
